Doppelfernrohr 15x60, Carl Zeiss Jena, Fussartillerie (Foot Artillery), 1910

Doppelfernrohr 15x60, Carl Zeiss Jena, Fussartillerie (Foot Artillery), 1910

Doppelfernrohr 15x60 made by Carl Zeiss Jena in 1910, in only 50 examples, supplied to the Fussartillerie departments.

In fact, on the central plate, in addition to having both the viewfinder and the graduated scale suitable for regulating the interpupillary opening, there is the writing "Fussartillerie Nr. 10", meaning that this binoculars was intended for a "foot artillery" department " with the identification "Nr. 10".

The Carl Zeiss Jena logo is on the left eyepiece plate.

On the right eyepiece plate there are the writings Doppelfernrohr 15x and the serial number "192796" which dates this binoculars to being produced in 1910.

It appears to be the only known example with the writing "Fussartillerie" of an already very limited production of only 50 binoculars produced.

We are aware of a second incomplete example, part of the same lot, but it does not bear the writing "Fussartillerie".

These binoculars, extremely robust for their intended use, are equipped with very bright lenses that make vision clear and perfectly defined, the prisms are perfectly collimated. It is complete with its original rain tubes and its screw knob for tightening to the stand. Its state of conservation is excellent.

The production of 50 examples was the only batch of this exact model, after which, a few years later, some modifications were made to it which changed its structure and shape.
