Doppelfernrohr 15x60 produced by Carl Zeiss Wien in 1916, for the Austro-Hungarian K.u.K. army (Kaiserlich und Königliche, meaning "Imperial and Royal").
On the left eyepiece plate there is the Carl Zeiss Wien logo, on the right "M.8/12 Z - 15 fach mit Skala Doppelfernrohr N.55XXXX", while on the plate in the center of the eyepieces both the logo and with Imperial Eagle (K.u.K.), which dates 14.7.16 to indicate military acceptance.
The remarkable sturdiness of construction, the "15x60" magnifications suitable for observing and aiming at targets placed at long distances, the integration of a micrometric bubble mechanism placed on the right tube and of a micrometric mechanism for the "elevation", place the use of these binoculars in a "Mountain Artillery" department, a fact also due to the presence of an adjustable reticle via a lever placed on the right eyepiece which was used to detect and indicate measurements for artillery shooting.
In the right eyepiece there is a numbered crosshair.
All mechanisms work perfectly, the view is clear and collimated.
The Zeiss Vienna plant was built and founded in 1916, in the 14th district of Vienna, Penzing located to the west of the city.
