San Giorgio Panoramic Telescope for Self-Propelled Hunting Tanks M.42 - M.43, 1943

San Giorgio Panoramic Telescope, installed on the M42-M43 Assault Vehicle, equipped with a 75/34 cannon, built in the Ansaldo-Genova Artillery Plant in 1943, supplied to the Royal Army and the Wehrmacht (StuG M42 mit 75/34 (851) (i) from May 1943 until the end of World War II. The scope is complete with the original support with base with micrometric elevation adjustments.

The instrument is in excellent condition, all mechanisms work perfectly.

Total height 90 cm, weight 13 kg.

The Semovente of 75/34 was a self-propelled assault tank fighter produced by Fiat-Ansaldo and equipped the following departments before the armistice:

The XIX M Tank Battalion of the 1st Armored Division "M":

The XXX Anti-tank Battalion of the 30th "Sabauda" Infantry Division on 2 companies.

The CXXXV Anti-tank Battalion of the 135th Armored Division "Ariete II" on 3 companies.

The 31st Tank Infantry Regiment and the "Alessandria Cavalry" Regiment (14th).

After the armistice, the National Republican Army assigned some of them to the "San Giusto" armored squadron group.

After the armistice the Wehrmacht used 80 newly produced specimens and 36 war prizes captured from the Italians, renaming the vehicle StuG M42 mit 75/34 (851) (i). The Self-Propelled Vehicles were assigned to a company for each Panzerjäger Abteilung (tank destroyer battalion) of many Heer divisions and to some Fallschirmjäger units of the Luftwaffe.

In 1944 Ansaldo produced 23 75/34 self-propelled guns based on the hull of the Ansaldo 105/25 M.43.

This differs from the previous ones in terms of size, being wider and lower, and in its increased armour.

These vehicles, renamed StuG M43 mit 75/34 851(i), were all used by the Germans in northern Italy and the Balkans.
