Scherenfernrohr S.F. 09, C.P. Goerz, Foot Artillery, around 1916

Scherenfernrohr S.F. 09 or "Periscope Scissor", produced by C.P. Goerz, for the Heavy Artillery "Feldartillerie" (Field Artillery), in about 1916.
The Scherenfernrohr, equipped with 10x lens with objective lenses of 45 mm, rests on a circular micrometer circular device, called "Messkreis". The metal tripod with tubular elongations has the manually adjustable pin with manual locking system by means of a special butterfly handle.
The usefulness of these rare optics was clear from the beginning: it was possible to use them in 2 modes:
- Closed: in trenches, looking under the fire line safely.
- Open: looking behind a protective obstacle, such as a tree.
The reticle is present in the right ocular but, despite all the micrometric mechanisms and adjustments working smoothly and correctly, results an out-of-collimation image.
Some photographic testimonies prove its use during World War II. This confirms the constructive success thanks also to excellent quality materials.
In good conservation conditions.
