Turmzielfernrohr T.Z.F. 3a, BEH, Sd.Kfz.222 - Sd.Kfz.250/9 (Leichter Panzerspähwagen), 1940

Turmzielfernrohr or T.Z.F.3a Optical Aiming Sight, made by BEH (Ernst Leitz) to be used together, as a single aiming optic, for a 20 mm KwK38 cannon and a 7.92 mm Mg34 installed exclusively on 2 armored car models: Sd.Kfz.222 and Sd.Kfz.250/9. The series is known as Leichte Panzerspähwagen, "light armored reconnaissance vehicles" and saw intensive use during the Second World War.

Following the invasion of Russia by the German army, and to compensate for the hardships of its territories, a new light armored vehicle was designed around 1943, the Sd.Kfz.250/9, a vehicle armed with a 2 cm KwK cannon 38 in turret (Leichter Schützenpanzerwagen (2 cm). It was a reconnaissance vehicle, which used the same turret as the Sd.Kfz.222 armored car and consequently the same weapons and the same optical sight, the Turmzielfernrohr T.Z.F.3a. In Indeed, this new model proved to be successful and this half-track variant succeeded the Sd.Kfz.222 thanks to its superior off-road mobility and ideal for snow-covered and muddy terrain.

The length of the viewfinder is 64cm, the moving parts work perfectly and the vision is clear.
