Feldtelefon or Austro-Hungarian Telephone, produced by Telefongyar R.T. in Budapest, around 1915. Telephone equipment supplied to the Austro-Hungarian Army used throughout the First World War.
Preserved in a state of absolute completeness.
Telefongyár was a company that produced, as can be guessed from the name Gyár or factory, telephone equipment. Furthermore, it produced electrical components.
During the First World War they were among the best producers of field telephone equipment supplied to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the German Army. For this reason they were associated with Telefunken until the end of the Second World War.
Telefongyár, in the 1920s, gave up the production of public radio sets and continued to produce military transceivers and telecommunications equipment for the railways.
After the 1950s, the production of civil telephone equipment and sophisticated telephone systems (PBX) resumed. In the early 1960s, Telefongyár was involved in the development of the first computers, perfecting and focusing on the field of remote data transmission and data processing.
Telefongyár was privatized and incorporated by Siemens-Hungary in 1992. Siemens Hungary has its headquarters in the old (well renovated) Telefongyár buildings in Budapest, district XIV (Gizella ut).
