Benito Mussolini Dignitary Bronze Bust signed Cesare Tarrini, 1926

Benito Mussolini in dignitary attire, bronze sculpture created and signed by the master sculptor Cesare Tarrini in 1926.

The sculpture, created with the lost wax casting technique, was certainly commissioned to be placed in a ministerial office or government representative office. The unusual characteristic found in the sculpture, noting the type of clothing with which Mussolini was represented, reasonably leads us to state that there is a strong possibility that the Opera was placed inside Villa Torlonia (as the residence of the Duce and his family from 1925 to 1943) where in existence, a part of it and more precisely the "Casino Nobile", was used for the reception of important guests and delegations of foreign governments, on which occasions it was customary for Mussolini to wear the uniform as a Dignitary.

In fact, this currently appears to be the only known sculpture of Benito Mussolini held as a dignitary.

Unique example, of exceptional workmanship and historical importance.

Cesare Tarrini (Chianni 1885 - Livorno 1953) was a very important Labronian sculptor.

He worked for public and private commissions. There are many exhibitions dedicated to him both during his life and after the war. He famous the "Monument to the Sailor" installed in Livorno, built in 1928, located on the seafront near the Naval Academy of Livorno.
