Glass Cocktail Flute belonging to the personal cutlery set of Tsar Nicholas II Romanov (Николай Александрович Романов), transliterated: Nikolaj Aleksandrovič Romanov; 1868-1918) last emperor of Russia. It was commissioned by the Imperial Manufactory of St. Petersburg on the occasion of the celebrations of the Tricentennial of the Romanov dynasty, which rose to power of the Russian Empire in 1613.
This eighteenth-century style glass flute with a faceted balustrade stem and an enlarged base, of a very rare shape, was part of a service consisting of 1050 pieces, including goblets and bottles of various shapes and sizes, which were united by the monogram of the Tsar Nicholas II (H II A) and the Russian Imperial Eagle
There were three types of harness used to decorate these magnificent glasses:
- Visible grinding
- Grinding by filling with pure gold and black enamel.
- Grinding with filling of pure gold only.
Many of these glasses have been sold by the most important auction houses in the world since 1921.
